How Punjab Board Position Holders Are Selected
Many students want to know how Punjab Boards determine their position holders and toppers after the intermediate examinations. The process is generally based on the final marks obtained by students and the position criteria set by the respective board.
The selection process typically follows these steps:
- Final marks are compiled: After the examination papers are checked and verified, the board prepares the final marks record for all students.
- Students are ranked: Candidates are ranked according to their total marks and relevant examination group.
- Top positions are awarded: The student with the highest qualifying marks is awarded 1st position, followed by 2nd and 3rd positions.
- Ties may result in shared positions: If two or more students obtain the same qualifying marks, the board may award them the same position according to its official rules.
- Group-wise toppers are identified: Positions may also be announced separately for groups such as Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, Commerce, General Science, and Humanities (Arts).
For example, a student who scores 1,090 marks in Humanities and another student who scores 1,090 marks in Pre-Engineering may both qualify for a top position within their respective categories. The exact method of determining Punjab Board Position Holders 2026 depends on the official rules and criteria followed by each board.
